A silver-mounted coconut cup is a drinking vessel or decorative bowl made from the hard shell of a coconut, fitted with precious metal rims, bands, or feet, often created as colonial souvenirs or curiosities.

These items typically combine a natural polished coconut shell with sterling silver or silver-plated mounts, occasionally featuring interior gilding or silver linings.

Authentication relies on examining the hallmarks on the silver mounts, the natural ageing and patination of the coconut shell, and the style of engraving or construction typical of the period.

Placed upon a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or side table, it serves as a striking conversational object that adds organic texture and historical depth to contemporary spaces.

Preservation requires keeping the item away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent cracking of the organic shell, while cleaning the silver mounts gently with a soft cloth.
