Worked by 21 year old Rosina Williams in 1871, in coloured wools on a dark wool ground which, unusually, covers the entire sampler, the dominant feature is the house which takes centre stage.
The absence of any text allows for the addition of numerous birds, a pair of cats seated on cushions, a pair of cockerels, three pairs of urns containing stylised flowers and a striking depiction of Adam and Eve and the serpent entwined in the tree of life.
