This fine Victorian pedestal was recently discovered amongst a wonderful collection of decorative items. It was certainly not the most valuable, those pieces were consigned to auction on behalf of our client, but its understated quality really appealed. It is a lovely example of 19th Century cabinet making, a period when materials of excellent quality were still in abundance. The original top surface is very slightly dished in the centre to receive and steady a particular item, however we are unsure what that may have been. A myriad of objects can be displayed upon it, however, it would also make a very distinctive occassional or lamp table with the addition of a drop-in marble ? top (33.3 cm diam).
