Original English or American naive carved and painted wooden figure of a seaman using his telescope, circa 1900

Well carved solid wood body with joined head, arms, legs and telescope fluently painted with good details.

Probable double breasted frock coat, shirt and tie, bell crown cap

All in good condition with much original paint, some black overpainting, pinned glued repairs to arms, chips to hat rim, paint rubs, dents, pellet gun wound and chips.

Not recently waxed or polished, mounted on later solid wood display base.
