Hand painted bentwood frame, brass ring and animal skin drum head.
 
Six pairs of brass jingles, one half pair missing, and thumb hole.
 
Four tensioning screws with wing nuts extend full depth of instrument.
 
Diameter 12'' or 305mm, height 2,3/16'' or 55mm, weight 423 grams.

Between 1780-1840, the tambourine was popular briefly in the salon music of England and even had locally based composers and tambourine builders, such as organist Joseph Dale, Sr. (1750-1821) along with his son Joseph Dale, Jr., Thomas Bolton, the German Daniel Gottlieb Steibelt (1765-1823), and the Italian builder/composer Tebaldo Monzani, and composers G.P. Salner, Arthur Betts, Giacomo Ferrari, Joseph Mazzinghi, and Muzio Clementi.
