FAQs

Art Deco furniture emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the use of luxurious materials such as burr walnut, chrome, and exotic veneers.

These pieces typically utilized solid secondary woods overlaid with highly figured decorative wood veneers like walnut, maple, or mahogany, often finished with a high-gloss French polish or lacquer.

Authentic period items generally display period-correct construction techniques such as traditional dovetail joints, genuine veneer thicknesses, and natural signs of age like minor surface oxidation and wear within the internal compartments.

Pairing a richly grained wooden console with minimalist modern surroundings allows the distinctive silhouette and figured wood grain to serve as a focal point without overwhelming the room.

Maintain finished wooden surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood, avoiding direct sunlight, extreme humidity, and chemical cleaning agents.
