A tripod table, popularised in Britain during the 18th century Georgian era, is a three-legged occasional table typically featuring a circular top supported by a central turned pedestal.

Craftsmen predominantly used solid dense timbers such as West Indian or Cuban mahogany and native oak, securing the three cabriole legs to the turned column using hand-cut dovetail joints.

Authentic period examples generally display hand-planed undersides, original iron or wooden tilt-top latches, and natural wood oxidisation underneath the base and leg joints.

Place this functional piece alongside an armchair or sofa to act as a drink stand, or set it in a reading alcove beneath a table lamp.

Dust regularly with a dry cotton cloth and apply beeswax sparingly along the wood grain, ensuring the table is positioned away from direct radiators to avoid timber shrinkage.
