Interesting and substantial 19th Century French Empire style ormolu gilt bronze and marble figural encrier or inkwell. Superb central winged goddess of victory seated on a classical style klismos chair leaning over a burning altar. The nude figure flanked on either side by cut glass and ormolu inkwells with two stands for a quill. Sitting on a stepped Siena marble base with a marbre vert block set on four ormolu paw feet. Unusual example. Quill included. French, late 19th Century.
