Early 19thc Treen Coquilla Nut Carved Scent Bottle. French C1820-40.

Description

A beautifully carved early 19thc scent bottle....it is carved out of a Coquilla nut and shows an early string instrument called a Lute....and an early wind instrument,...probably a Flute and a Quiver containing arrows on one side and a carved basket with ornamental exotic birds and flowers on the other side....expertly carved...probably by a seaman on a long voyage as Coquilla was a staple part of his diet and then they would carve the nut....nothing wasted...the scent bottle is in lovely condition with no cracks or breaks....

French C1820-40.
