Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Epirus textiles originate from Northern Greece, particularly Ioannina, which was a major embroidery centre during the Ottoman era. These hand-stitched textiles are recognised for their dense silk threads and motifs depicting birds, vessels, and stylized foliage.

Traditional Epirus embroideries were created using fine silk or wool threads worked onto hand-woven linen or cotton grounds. Dyes were derived from natural vegetable sources to create rich shades of crimson, indigo, and yellow.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-worked darning or cross-stitches on hand-loomed linen grounds, showing minor irregularities typical of artisan work. Key motifs include confronting peacocks, floral sprigs, and central urns, with colour fading consistent with age.

A mounted textile fragment can be framed under non-reflective glass and hung within a gallery wall or positioned above a console table. The organic texture and historical motifs provide a contrasting focal point against clean modern walls.

Position the textile away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and high humidity to prevent fibre breakdown and thread fading. Avoid surface cleaning with water or domestic detergents, consulting a professional conservator for stabilization if required.
