Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Edwardian occasional furniture emerged during the reign of King Edward VII (1901-1910), a period marked by lighter, more versatile pieces designed for flexible room layouts and comfortable entertaining, often drawing inspiration from earlier Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs.

These tables were typically constructed from dense timbers such as mahogany, satinwood, or walnut, featuring precise joinery, delicate marquetry or string inlay, and tapered or turned legs often supported by a lower tier shelf for stability.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-appropriate secondary woods in hidden areas, hand-cut dovetails or traditional joinery, natural patination consistent with age, and precise, hand-applied stringing or floral inlay work rather than modern printed veneers.

An antique occasional table provides textural contrast in a modern setting; it can be used next to a clean-lined sofa or as a standalone plant stand to introduce warmth, historical character, and layered sophistication to a minimalist space.

To preserve the finish and prevent timber splitting, keep wooden tables out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the wood surface.
