Antique Star Gazers Telescope by Browning of London

A superb and very original Victorian period antique star gazers telescope and stand by highly regarded maker John Browning of London. Polished brass retractable main telescope with secondary 'spotter' telescope to the side. Sat on a revolving angle adjustable mount with telescopic guide rail. Original mahogany adjustable tripod and second table top cast iron and brass tripod included. Bears the makers mark ' John Browning London' on the surround of the eye piece. Full working order with lenses in excellent condition. John Browning Of London was a highly regarded in his profession and was the son of William Spencer Browning. John Browning was a supplier of telescopes to the Royal Observatory Greenwich along with many other prominent scientists of the time. Measures 4' long or 5' 6" fully extended. 59" high on stand. 5" deep. Table top stand 24" diameter.
