A most unusual automaton depicting a mother and child in bed .
.
This automaton is in totally original condition , the movement of the doll runs perfectly and the music box plays tunefully and loud . All the materials are original . The dolls head has an inscribed German maker on the back of the head , although the underside of the bed is stamped Made in Austria .
The condition issues are that the lace and cotton need cleaning and the tinplate bed has minor chips throughout ., but I cannot stress how untouched and perfect working order this automaton is , a rare find .
The sizes are for the bed only .
Donald Allison Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
