This nineteenth-century Regency period library table is constructed from warm brown mahogany. The rectangular top rests above a frieze containing six drawers fitted with dark turned wooden knobs. Four substantial fluted and turned legs support the structure, terminating in brass castors that allow for movement. The timber displays a rich grain and polished finish throughout. Measuring 79.5 cm high, 183 cm wide, and 106.8 cm deep, this substantial piece serves as a central writing or workspace in a study, home office, or library. The generous surface area accommodates books, lamps, and daily working materials, while the multiple drawers provide practical storage for stationery and documents.

Regency period library tables, produced roughly between 1810 and 1830, are defined by classical proportions, high-quality timber such as mahogany or rosewood, and refined architectural detailing including fluted legs, brass mounts, and concealed or frieze drawers.

These tables were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak or pine drawer linings, featuring hand-cut dovetail joinery, brass castors, and turned wood or brass drawer knobs.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery such as hand-sawn dovetails, authentic patination on the wood finish, original brass hardware with natural oxidisation, and turned or fluted legs consistent with early 19th-century craftsmanship.

Place the table as a central focal point in a home office or study, pairing it with a tailored leather desk chair, desk lamp, and minimal tabletop accessories to balance historic proportions with modern functionality.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, ensuring the table is kept away from direct heat sources and damp environments to protect the wood.
