Unusual early Victorian Mauchline Ware whitewood book stand, circa 1840
The front, closed, decorated with four different classical corner transfers and two central vignettes.
The inside transfers depict classic Victorian lamentation of mother and her children ans a bird.
The pitch of the stand is adjustable on a rack in the base.
In good, bright, sound, used condition, the original varnished surface with some light scuffs,
the small brass hinges are a little stretched, causing the side panels to be out of level when opened.
the base board has a slight warp and some re fitting of the original hinges.
9,5/8'' x 7,3/4'' x 1,1/2'' weight 672 grams.
