A top quality example of a 19th century glazed picture frame in maple (or, quite likely the exotic wood amboyna). The rectangular frame has a single-faceted front with an original finish having the most beautifully patinated surface of great warmth. There is a moulded gilded sight edge retaining the original 19th century gently undulating glass plate. This stunning picture frame can be hung on the wall as a work of art in its own right, or it could be used to mount a watercolour, oil, or photograph. It is English, and it dates from c.1870s.
