FAQs

A Pembroke table is a compact drop-leaf table designed in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, featuring two folding leaves supported by hinged wooden brackets, often used for serving, writing, or needlework.

Regency Pembroke tables were typically crafted from solid mahogany or rosewood, featuring dovetailed drawer joints, turned or reeded legs, cross-stretchers, and brass castors for mobility.

Look for period-appropriate details such as hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, original brass castors, flame mahogany veneers, and hand-turned reeded legs with authentic patina and wear consistent with 19th-century cabinetmaking.

Position the piece as an occasional table beside an armchair, an elegant bedside table, or a compact desk, pairing its classic warm mahogany tones with neutral upholstery and contemporary accessories.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically along the grain to preserve the wood finish, keeping the table away from direct heat sources and moisture.
