Mid 19th Century French Religious Placque

Description

Fine and Rare large size mid 19th century French oval carved Meerschaum religious plaque in original ebonised and gilt brass frame. "The Decent From The Cross" after a painting by Reubens. Signed by the artist in the bottom left corner E. CASSIER who was a French artist.

The plaque is in very good condition with no damage as is the frame which retains it's original bow glass.

There is an inscription on the back describing who and when it was last cleaned. Cleaned in 1950. Paschul Rowland O.F.M was the Catholic Bishop of Dundee at the time.
