This pair of Painted Portrait Miniature Silhouettes is in excellent condition.
Both painted portrait miniature silhouettes have had highlights added in silvery gold which provide dramatic emphasis to the hair and coat of the Husband, and to the hair, jewellery and bodice details of the Wife. We love the detailing of the Wife’s hair and her splendid jewellery. Regency artists showed their skill in displaying and highlighting such details.
The Husband has been identified as “Mr Yeo” as hand-written in pencil on the reverse of the miniature.
About the Date of Manufacture
Early 19th century, say about 1810-1820 as reflected in the attire of the Husband and of the Wife. The Regency period was also the high point of miniature silhouette portraiture.
