A rare very pretty and elegant Regency pole screen, painted in cream and gilt gesso
 
c1830.
 
Having a rococo cresting with central cartouche, over a rectangular glass fronted frame, with a delightful tapestry of a colourful Chinese golden pheasant, a symbol of nobility, surrounded by foliage.
 
Lovely original wobbly hand-made glass.
 
Adjustable brass pole with decorative urn finial.
 
Supported by a reeded column, with a circular platform base and flattened bun-feet.
 
In sturdy, strong condition, the paint having a very charming naturally aged time worn patina. Some fine cracks to the gesso, but all very intact. Small tear to the tapestry. Back left as is.
