A Charming Japanese Ivory Okimono of a Seated Monkey & Sarumawashi- Signed

1900 - 1920
Description

As part of our Japanese Works of art collection we are delighted to offer this lovely little Japanese Ivory Okimono from the Meiji period and depicting a seated Monkey trainer, the artist has captured in great detail the Sarumawashi ( Monkey trainer ) seated with one hand upon the monkeys back as he climbs over his legs , a leash tied around the monkeys neck to keep him in line , finely detailed throughout and artist signed to the underside in a two character incised signature that reads "Tomokazu".

Lovely colour and fine condition.

Width: 1.37" 3.4 cm

Depth: 1" 2.7 cm
