Fine Quality Japanese IVory Gold Lacquer And Shibayama Card Case

As part of our Japanese Works of art collection we are delighted to offer this lovely late 19th century Meiji period ( 1868 - 1912 ) Ivory, Gold lacquer and Shibayama card case, the artist has captured in great detail the scene of two quails foraging for seeds on the ground , butterflies and dragonflies hover amongst the traditional display of chrysanthemums worked in Taki-Maki-e Lacquer , other lacquered Flora includes Valerian and bush Clover, further decorated with semi precious stones and a Crane mid flight, the reverse of the card case depicts a scene of two Manchurian cranes stood beneath stems of bamboo, once again with Butterflies and Dragonflies hovering above, overall this is a stunning example of a Shibayama and ivory card case and would enhance any serious Japanese , or indeed card case collection.
