As part of our Japanese Works of art collection we are delighted to offer this lovely late 19th century Meiji period ( 1868 - 1912 ) Ivory, Gold lacquer and Shibayama card case, the artist has captured in great detail the scene of two quails foraging for seeds on the ground , butterflies and dragonflies hover amongst the traditional display of chrysanthemums worked in Taki-Maki-e Lacquer , other lacquered Flora includes Valerian and bush Clover, further decorated with semi precious stones and a Crane mid flight, the reverse of the card case depicts a scene of two Manchurian cranes stood beneath stems of bamboo, once again with Butterflies and Dragonflies hovering above, overall this is a stunning example of a Shibayama and ivory card case and would enhance any serious Japanese , or indeed card case collection.Condition report:Lovely original condition with minimal age related wear.Approximate Sizes : Height: 4.5'' 11.5 cmWidth: 3'' 7.5 cmDepth: 0.5'' ...
