A Delightful Japanese Stained IVory Okimono Of A Rat Group

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this lovely quality Meiji period stained Ivory Okimono depicting a group of rats swarming over a tied sack of grain, there are seven rodents vying for position which the artist has captured in great detail, the rodents have chewed their way through the sack of grain and can be seen clambering inside, peering outand attempting access through the top, each of the creatures has finely incised fur and inset jet black eyes, the Okimono is signed with an illegible cursive Kao to the underside, this is a fabulous quality ivory Okimono with a lovely mellow colouring and will enhance any good collection.
 
The condition is lovely throughout.
