Gertrude Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

This glorious Sabretache has been framed in mahogany and then mounted on a screw slide on a polished Mahogany Pole with a Mahogany Circular Stand. It is in the same tradition as the pole screens that began to appear in the 18th century. Pole screens are small screens placed on a vertical pole which is mounted on a tripod or base. These are placed between a lit fire and an occupant of the room, and the screen can be adjusted up or down to shield the person's face from the heat.

This magnificent Sabretache Polescreen is in very good condition.
