A Finely Carved Japanese IVory Lidded Box By Kiyochika

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this finely constructed Ivory lidded trinket box, the box is formed from panels of thick cut ivory and is held together with the use of snug fitting mortice and tennon joints, the obvious stand out feature is the lid which has been exquisitely deep carved to represent water Lilies amidst a lakeside setting, the type of decoration more commonly associated with Japanese silver objects , the box is artist signed to the lid and reads Kiyochika , and is further decorated to the underside , a very sturdy and useful trinket box for your collection, constructed from Elephant ivory during the Meiji period 1868-1912 , circa 1900 .
 
The condition is good and solid with only minor age related hairline cracks and striations .
