A Good Japanese Meiji Period IVory Netsuke Frog And Snake

As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this nicely carved ivory netsuke bearing old collection labels , the netsuke is formed as lilly pad and lotus leafs and depicts a frog sat upon the lilly pad with a water snake crawling from inside a lotus pod, meanwhile the most charming snail appears from under the lotus leaf , a great subject and well carved netsuke bearing one or two old collection labels to the rear, the himotoshi is cleverly formed by the crossing of the lotus stems.
