Culvertons has dated this piece to the 1900s.

In three decades William Whiteley expanded his empire at an incredible pace - from the opening of his first shop selling fancy goods in Westbourne Grove in 1863 where he employed two girls and a boy to run errands, to 17 different departments and a 6000 strong staff in 1890. Adding a building and decorating department in 1876 proved particularly successful - this would have been the original location for this drying/storage rack.
This quirky and attractive shelving unit will grace any room, its functionality only limited by ones imagination.
