As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this charming detailed ivory tusk vase on stand , the silver banded thickly cut tusk section has been profusely decorated in Shibayama style with the use of shells, corals and other semi precious stones , the front elevation depicts a charming Bijin dressed in a wonderfully decorated kimono , she stands in a tranquil garden setting amidst birds and butterflies and with a fan in her right hand , the reverse more simply decorated with a bird amongst foliage , the vase sits upon its original finely carved base which is designed to allow the tusk to turn to your prefered position , a fine and increasingly rare addition to your Japanese collection, signed in a mother of pearl tablet .
