As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality mixed media okimono of a Samurai in a relaxed pose , the main body of the okimono is made of boxwood finely decorated in gold lacquer detail, the character has a jovial expression as he carries his fan in one hand and his double gourd sake bottle in the other, the obi sash around his waist carries the traditional pair of Samurai swords carved in ivory, a great mixed media representation of everyday 19th century life in Japan .

This okimono is the first of many superb ivory figures we shall be listing in the coming weeks , we were fortunate to be invited to purchase the collection from the family of a Cheshire estate who are now downsizing.

The condition is superb with no splits or damage whatsoever !
