Delightful Japanese Ivory Netsuke of Okame Signed Jyogyoku

1900 - 1920
Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this most charming Japanese stained ivory mask netsuke depicting a jovial female character known as OKAME ,little else is known of the character other than she is always round faced, happy and smiling , probably the most pleasing of the Noh mask characters , the artist has captured her in great detail with stained ivory features that have rubbed away lightly on her cheeks and more obviously on her nose from years of handling , she is such a tactile piece and is nicely signed to the rear, we believe it reads Jyogyoku !

The condition is superb !
