A Humerous Japanese IVory Okimono Pleasure Boat Signed "Shuko"

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this very well executed large Japanese ivory okimono from the Meiji period, the carving depicts a group on a pleasure boat listening to the shamisen player,the boat itself sits upon four feet detailed as waves, the central character plays the shamisen, the character at the front appears to be hitting the underside of a bottle and a young boy sits at the rear holding a fan , the final character is steering the boat using a long paddle,the deck of the boat is littered with various objects from gourds and tobacco pouches to drinking vessels and a stacking chest of goodies !
 
A quite remarkable and lifelike okimono of a Japanese day out boating finished in superb detail !
 
The condition is stunning , no losses, breaks or repairs are evident , the underside bears a red seal signature tablet and an old collectors label suggesting the artist as ''Shuko'' Meiji period, stand not available .
