As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality Japanese ivory okimono of a fisherman and his son by the highly regarded Udagawa Kazuo, the lifelike rendition captures a father holding aloft an exceptionally well carved crab clinging to some seaweed , the overall detail is exquisite , the facial features and limbs are generally good indications of a high quality okimono and these are very fine , as is the straw apron he wears which has been cut deeply away from his body giving it movement , the boy sits upon a wicker creel securely holding the previous catch of the day , an absolutely fantastic quality rendition of everyday Japanese life captured in fine detail by a top Tokyo school artist , signed to the underside '' Udagawa Koba No Kazuo ''.
