Japanese Bronze And IVory Okimono Female Harvester

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this charming Japanese mixed media study of a female harvester , the bronze and ivory group depicts a young farm labourer on her way to harvest , she carries a large wicker basket upon her shoulder and a cutting implement in her left hand ,her head and limbs have been nicely carved in ivory whilst her body and basket are cast in bronze , she is fixed upon her original hardwood base carved as a rocky outcrop ,and is signed with a three character incised mark to the rear of her outfit , a great mixed media study of everyday Japanese life !
