As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this most wonderful quality one piece Japanese ivory okimono by Kyokumei , the humerous group are captured in fine detail by the artist , they are obviously enjoying a banquet with a song and some dance included , the younger chap on the left sits playing the samisen while apparently bellowing out a song , his companion lower right has found the food bowl doubles as a drum and is merrily beating away, the three elder dancers are probably suffering the effects of to much saki , one contorts his body whilst performing a fan dance while the other two certainly seem to be getting into the party spirit , the individual detail is incredible , there is just to much going on to fully describe and hopefully the multi photo''s will help with your interpretation of the event , this chunky okimono is carved from a single piece of ivory with the underside being finished to as good a standard as the group itself ,it has aged to a lovely me...
