Waterfall Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
It is comprised of a lift-up lockable lid with key, opening to reveal a single storage compartment. Beneath this is a bank of small graduated drawers – with their original finely turned knob handles – all supported on a plain plinth base. It can be used for a variety of purposes: as a jewellery cabinet; a sewing box; or for general storage. This fine piece of cabinetmaking is English, c.1850s; it has an untouched finish with a deep rich colour and a glowing patination.
