As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this super quality Japanese ivory netsuke , the finely carved figure unusually depicts an egg tester , he sits with a basket of eggs between his legs ,while clutching one egg in his left hand he forms a sight through his right hand to enable him to see if the egg bears a chich or can indeed be consumed , a fascinating study carved in the finest detail , you can pick out his fingernails , the fine hair tied in a top knot and the finely woven basket are just small indicaters of the detailed work , he is nicely finished to the underside and inset with a red seal signature that simply reads SO or can translate to MUNE, a joy !!
