Set of Three Japanese Ivory Noh Mask Netsuke Meiji Period

1900 - 1920
Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this great set of three Japanese ivory noh mask netsuke , the three masks depict Japanese mythical characters, the full size versions usually in lacquer were used by the Japanese in drama and plays , the Japanese believed the masks to have hidden powers , the mask on the right is Hannya the middle one is probably Junko and the other is unknown to me , a great set of Meiji period netsuke !

The condition is lovely with a rich mellow colour and patination to the ivory, no damage or repairs.

Approximate sizes

Height 1.5" 40 mm

Width 1.25" 35 mm
