Large Derbyshire Specimen Stone Thermometer Buxton

19th century
Description

We are delighted to offer for sale this large and imposing Derbyshire slate specimen thermometer , the thermometer itself is housed upon an ivory scale signed by T.Woodruff Buxton which i assume to be either the maker or retailler , the arched column of black slate is finely inset with a multitude of specimen hardstones in a geometric pattern all stood on a stepslate ped plinth base on four circular feet.

The condition is lovely throughout with no damage to the stone slate column or scale and only minimal edge chipping and staining to the base,a great object !!
