Rare 18th Century Handled Gutter Plane

Description

VERY RARE 18th CENTURY 13 1/2" long by 2 1/2" wide HANDLED gutter or rounding plane by Wm. McKILLOP. William McKillop is at present an un-recorded early Scottish plane maker.

Good near full length original blade by Robert Sorby. Open rear handle with early type wide flat chamfers to the plane body and early pattern chamfered blade wedge.

The base has been extremely well re-mouthed in the 19th century but overall this plane is in remarkable condition considering its age.
