Rare Japanese Ivory Shibayama Inlaid Card Case Meiji Period 1868-1912

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to be able to offer this fine quality very unusual Japanese ivory card case , very cleverly carved from a solid section of ivory and then shibayama inlaid with 25 insects formed from various semi-precious stones, we have shown the incredible detail of some of the insects in the later photos.

The case is in superb original condition in a lovely mellow ivory colour with no cracks or repairs , all of the shibayama insects remain intact , a real must have for either Japanese or card case collectors.
