Finest Quality Japanese Tokyo School Ivory Okimono Drunkard

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to be able to offer this finest quality Japanese Tokyo school ivory okimono of a gentleman getting rather the worse for wear ,carved from a single piece of ivory in true Tokyo school fashion showing incredible detail particularly to skin and muscle definition , the tokyo school carvers mastered this tecnique where other good carvers failed , the carving has a sheen finish which shows the tiniest detail down to the veins in the arms and forehead , the subject itself is humerous with a chap clutching his gourd in one handing and his drinking vessel in the other , he certainly looks happy !!

The condition is superb with only a minor nick to his top knot and a to be expected dark hairline upon his head , a great okimono for the purist.
