Description

As part of our oriental collection we are pleased to bring this superb carved Chinese stone figure to the market , i am unsure what the stone is but it is hard and very heavy , the carving is quite superb and the artist has hand picked the stone to highlight every colour imaginable as you work your way around it , the scene depicts a goddess like figure possibly guanyin with a child by her side holding a peach accompanied by a shi shi dog .

The condition is superb and the stone is signed on the underside , it rests on a purpose made later fitted 19th c hardwood stand, although we are pretty sure the figure itself is late Quanlong period , at the very latest early 19thc
