Magnificent Japanese Ivory Okimono Dragon Boat Meiji Period 1868-1912

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this quite superb Japanese ivory okimono of a dragon boat at sea filled with characters going about their business including a tea ceremony.

It is not often we come across an okimono with so much detail delivered with such crisp quality, even the underside of the carving is detailed as the sea swirling !

The condition is exceptional , with so much happening you would expect minor losses , we have examined the piece thoroughly ,if you gently rub your fingers around the wavy edged base you will feel a tiny nibble at the rear near the tiller, otherwise it is perfect in every respect , the colour is superb you would love it in your collection !!
