Japanese Ivory Tusk Vase Meiji Period 1868-1912

Description

Here we have on offer a super quality Japanese carved ivory tusk vase formed from a solid section of tusk , the joined top lip is etched and stained in the usual greek key pattern , the whole vase is carved fully around all sides depicting village scenes, male and female workers going about their business whith children at play all set beneath carved pine trees.

The condition of this completely hollowed out sectional tusk vase is gorgeous and the colour is that lovely mellow honey colour that only age can bring , i want to say its perfect , it may have had a tiny base stopper section at some point but that is being really picky , its great !!
