Superb Large Japanese Tusk Carving Meiji Period 1868-1912

19th century
Description

A truly wonderfull quality Japanese carved tusk on its original stand depicting a mother with her two children attempting to round up the chickens into a basket , the carving is exquisite and difficult to appreciate fully in the photos , the colour of the ivory has turned that gorgeous mellow honey colour and i have to say is in the most gorgeous condition , i will have to put minor age cracks/losses to cover myself but i really cannmot find any faults .

The subject matter is delightfull , it could not really get any more realistic , its divine !!

The approximate sizes below are very impressive.
