Large Chinese Rootwood Carving

1900 - 1920
Description

Here on offer as part of our oriental collection is a very large and heavy Chinese carved rootwood figure depicting a scholar sat against a rocky backdrop reading his scripture , his horse being tethered behind .

The entire piece has been carved from one large lump of rootwood and has just been waxed to show its fine detail , a very decorative and imposing carving ready for immediate delivery !
