Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Furniture produced in 19th-century Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) during the British colonial period combined European functional forms with native timbers and traditional carving techniques. These pieces frequently feature dense ebony, intricate floral or scroll carving, and specimen wood inlays.

Colonial Ceylonese tripod tables were predominantly constructed from solid ebony, calamander, and rosewood. Tops were often finished with radial veneer inlays using contrasting indigenous hardwoods to showcase wood grain patterns.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved relief detailing, natural weight due to timber density, and traditional joinery such as pegged mortise and tenon joints. The underside of table tops often retains hand-sawn wood marks and hand-cut brass hardware.

Dark ebony tripod tables can serve as flanking accent pieces beside modern upholstery, within a reading nook, or positioned inside window bays. Their compact footprint and deep wood tones offer visual contrast against neutral walls and lighter textiles.

Ebony furniture requires placement away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer movement. Cleaning should be done with a dry microfibre cloth, followed by periodic applications of high-grade beeswax polish.
