Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco desk tidy and pen tray from around 1925 combines a dark bronze prowling tiger sculpture mounted on the rim with a green onyx oval base. The natural stone shows rich green and brown tones with prominent reddish veins running through the polished surface, complemented by a central recessed groove for pens. Standing 10 cm high, 25 cm wide, and 15 cm deep, the compact accessory sits easily on standard desk surfaces. The piece displays fine original condition with the metal figure securely attached to the stone base. Suitable for an office desk or a gentleman's library, the tray organizes writing instruments while doubling as a sculptural display object. The combination of patinated metal and variegated natural stone offers a solid weight and a classic early twentieth-century aesthetic. The surface is clean throughout, presenting a polished finish ready for immediate placement in a home study or executive workspace.

FAQs

Art Deco desk accessories from the 1920s frequently combine carved natural stone bases, such as onyx or marble, with detailed cast bronze animal figures or geometric metalwork.

These items typically feature a cold-cast or patinated bronze figurine mounted onto a carved and polished solid onyx slab with recessed grooves for writing implements.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished details in the bronze, natural vein variations in the onyx, and often carry maker signatures or foundry marks on the underside or metalwork.

An onyx pen tray can be placed on an executive office desk, a hallway console table, or a writing desk to add texture and historical context.

Dust the bronze gently with a soft brush and clean the polished onyx using a damp, non-abrasive cloth, avoiding acidic cleaning solutions that can etch stone surfaces.
