Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large mid-nineteenth-century French country coffee table is made from cherrywood with a warm brown finish. The construction comprises a rectangular plank top over a straight apron, set on tapered square legs, and includes a small single drawer fitted with a drop ring handle. Signs of age and past alterations are evident in the reduced height of 51 cm, width of 158 cm, and depth of 84 cm. Positioned in a living room or reception space, the table provides a substantial surface for books, lamps, and decorative items. The rustic farmhouse design blends well with traditional seating arrangements while offering functional storage in the small drawer.

FAQs

Traditionally crafted in regional France, these tables feature simple, functional forms constructed from local hardwoods such as cherrywood, known for its warm timber grain and structural durability.

Authentic pieces feature solid timber plank tops, hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, and wooden pegging, often finished with a wax or hand-rubbed oil polish.

Look for natural surface patination, minor variations in hand-planed timber planks, original iron hardware, and traditional joinery along the frame and drawer aprons.

Pair the warm timber tone with light neutral upholstery, structured ceramics, and low-profile contemporary seating to balance the visual weight of the wood.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth, apply clear beeswax annually to preserve the timber patina, and keep away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
