Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of five eighteenth-century Nanking dishes consists of oval platters in Chinese Export style, fashioned from porcelain with cobalt blue pigment under a white glaze. Each piece features a hand-painted pagoda landscape and river scene within a detailed floral border, complemented by scalloped rims and gentle surface wear showing scuffs around the edges. Arranged together as a collection, the platters range in practical size from thirty-eight centimetres across down to twenty-eight centimetres for the smallest piece. They suit placement on a dining room sideboard top or dresser within an English Country House interior setting, where they serve as decorative display plates or serving platters.

FAQs

Nanking porcelain refers to Chinese export blue and white porcelain produced in Jingdezhen during the Qing dynasty, specifically made for European and American markets in the 18th and 19th centuries.

It was crafted from local kaolin clay and petuntse, hand-painted with cobalt oxide pigment under a clear glaze, and fired at high temperatures to produce a durable vitreous finish.

Authentic period pieces feature minor hand-painted variations in cobalt intensity, slight pinholes or orange-peel texture in the glaze, and unglazed base rims showing fine white porcelain clay.

These pieces can be mounted on a feature wall, arranged on plate stands upon a sideboard, or used as central decorative trays on a dining table.

Clean gently by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap with a soft cloth, avoiding dishwashers, abrasive pads, or rapid temperature variations.
